today is sent back

to yesterday when tomorrow

unwraps a new one

 

there is only ever one today

 

secrets that appear

hope that arrives

a happy surprise

might all be on the schedule

 

but never revealed if some

disturbance rocks your morning

and you can’t get off the floor

 

to not ruin a day of possibilities

get up, brush yourself off

and say with prodigious conviction
