A Fine Balance - April 6, 2025

the days of One-a-Day vitamins

are over, now I pre-fill six meds

into a two-week pill box

I assume most people my age

have faulty workings of body

or mind and to slow demise

we gulp pills and let them

run the rivers of blood

to deliver to the right doors

they tell us to watch what we eat

drown in drinks of water

move the legs, work the brain

but we enjoy sitting, don’t we?

moving slowly and not thinking about

heavy things or lifting them either

follow the doctor’s advice

and you’ll probably live longer

and feel better

but whatever you do

never take away the pleasures

that let you die with a smile
