A Noble Cause ... or maybe Nobel? March 20, 2024

I want to write a poem

before the light disappears

it’s when I struggle

and come closest to prayer

that is if prayer is begging

for a few spare words

“He” might be willing

to donate to a noble cause

I’ll wait maybe twenty minutes

before I start dinner   thirty

before I stop looking out the window

forty before a blackened world

watches me serve meat loaf

with mashed sweet potatoes

and steamed green beans
