where I live a passing cloud is like

a celebrity sighting

a traffic jam of them is like the president

and his entourage are in town

and a thunderstorm is like

well  almost like  a Second Coming

I say almost because Jesus does visit

once in a while  turns the wine clouds

into water and pours it into a stiff wind

soaking everyone and everything

with gratitude  well  almost everyone

there are some who wonder why

he bothers with that particular miracle

they’d be happier putting their glasses

under downspouts and making ever

sillier toasts to the wonderful weather

those are the same ones who say

there’s nothing like lying naked

licking puddles and watching

the moon blush
