haven’t many of us asked
for a “sign” from God
then watched the dog’s tail
thump in morse code
or wanted to touch Him
with our fingers
while they combed through fur
or traced the softness of a belly
if man’s best friend could talk
why would they?
their presence alone
a clear enough message from divinity
that words would muddy
with logic and
interpretation
