I’m having English tea

in the ceramic bones

of a cup and saucer

these articles of tradition

comfortably served and

idly sipped in a proper

recline are disappearing

those same people

that drove the passenger pigeon

Tasmanian devil and dodo bird

from existence

now shoot from their mugs

and metal containers

Styrofoam and paper cups

that same hurried look
