Babbling vs. Rambling - Oct. 12, 2024

why is a babbling brook enjoyable

while a person’s mouth isn’t

or a twinkling star so precious on a clear night

but not someone flicking the living-room lights

or a howling wolf under a full moon

versus a baby that won’t stop crying

we seem intrigued by nature

and merely tolerant of people

it makes me think  once again

man’s best friend is the way to go

enough wildness to be endearing

yet trainable

so when barking annoyingly it will

stop with just a look or sharp word

and still remain

beautifully unscathed
