Cocooning - Sept. 5, 2026

I think I get it now,

why an aging couple spins

a web around their home

to close themselves inside

as they retreat from the world

they prefer insulation, protection

there is sanctuary in movement

through familiar passages

also, when the end approaches

it is the most comfortable place

to close the eyes

and peacefully drift away

perhaps dream of a metamorphosis

breaking out of the silk

new wings

new world

Dinner with Cicadas - Sept. 2, 2026

I served a summer meal once, under our backyard tree on a tolerable night in July imagine a restaurant with hard of hearing patrons, packed around tables, screaming at each other, what did he say?
