bless the soldiers who fought

or gave their lives for a country

and bless the children’s lives

broken or lost in battle

enemy territory is often

a kids’ playground

where bombs and soccer balls

cross paths

the soldier’s duty

and a youngster’s imperative

sometimes meet in a field

and play a deadly game

two losers go home

only one is remembered

as the winner
