learning very late in the game

the power of NO

and everything changed

no longer a forced shape,

I unfolded into the puzzle piece

that became the real me

which found a fit in the world

now I’ve gone back

to relive childhood

under lots of wrinkles

and the groan of joints

with baggy eyes

sometimes bubbling with life

and smiles hiding

a mouth of mischief
