Have a Vigilant Thanksgiving - Nov. 27, 2024

you’re looking forward to that first forkful

of turkey don’t ruin it by chewing on the

winners and losers that ran for office

cranberry sauce is a complex dish

don’t compare that to the part of you

that's sweet or bitter

bite into a fat yam slathered

with butter and mention no names

have some wine and slide into the good

old times but not so much that you slip

back tipsy into the highly charged present

comment on the effort and your appreciation

it took to present such a delicious meal

pecan and pumpkin pie are meant

to have you push back from the table

pat your belly and appropriately say

That was so great but I can’t eat another bite

and just let go of the queasy thoughts

still churning in your stomach
