I Grew Up Happy - Oct. 12, 2023

Gary Hunter

happy like a dog in a good home

home like a pleasant spring morning

each morning like an expected promise

a promise like what teases ripples in a pond

the pond deep like a cast of colorful characters

characters like the Goodman’s, the Piaker’s, the Mistretta’s

The Mistretta’s like dinner with thin spaghetti and meatballs

those meatballs, oh, like a juicy heaven in my mouth

my mouth like the speaker for my happiness

happiness like an endless web of friends

friends like a laughing summer

summer like a giggling sun

the sun like a buddy

a buddy like Frosty

Frosty our dog

like another

brother

a brother

like no other
