I'm Sure I look Lonely - Jan. 19, 2024

as lonely as the single sparrow

with the bent feather

sitting on the long stretch

of phone wire between houses

but I need to sit alone

to bend and twist together

some wires to hook you up

and give you a call

I know poetry can be gossipy

but allow me to explain   that bird

just lost his wife    his difficulty

of making new friends   that he’s

lost weight    doesn’t sleep well

and maybe this little story

will open your heart to invite

that lonesome sparrow

to dinner at your house
