ring doorbells, hidden monitors

satellites and security surveillance,

why try to break the law these days,

if somewhere, something or someone

sees and knocks on your door in

the middle of a mouthful of pizza

or an orgasmic dream and

lassoes you to your crime?

why try to get away with anything?

because every so often, stupid

thinks it’s smart

because, and this is all of us,

we like to lie a little to ourselves

and love living on the run

from one truth or another
