I wonder why - Sept. 27, 2024

the dog’s snoring

and the ticking clock

don’t diminish the silence

I’m counting hummingbirds

diving for quick drinks

gaze at mango-less trees

wonder why it is so

drawn to shadows

the flying kind and those fixed

that clear sheet of the waterfall

this is me  accepting aloneness

to listen  watch and knit stories

from skipped beats of my heart

or catch something study me

that breaks the moment

makes me drop the pen

or maybe it was just a mirror

I didn’t know was there
