If, then after, It Rains - May 28, 2022

where I live

thunderstorms usually arrive

to a mountain’s detour

where clouds are spun

into a collar that wraps

the throat of the valley

so what a surprise this morning

to see the shiny faces

of dripping leaves

and the air

so clean and fresh

I thought of a prayer

spoken through tears

that might greet Him

opening His front door
