Leaks - May 13, 2026

so rare to see a smoker these days,

to watch a slow suicide

no need for me to show funeral eyes

theirs are full of enjoyment

though enjoyment is a congenial word

for an addict getting a fix

I like to think my life isn’t killing me,

but it is, living does, very gradually

everyone develops leaks in their boat and

inch by inch, sink towards a watery grave

the difference might be, drilling holes in

the bottom of it, doesn’t help with repairs

where those of us who patch their trickles

have paid for a relaxing sunset cruise

and plan to watch it submerge

as the sun goes down
