Losing a Million
when I lost a million dollars
I was angry that life couldn’t
do compassionate math you know
see what happened adjust the books
look for a hidden bonus or owed favor
bring out something special from
the back vault but she didn’t
still she knew exactly how much
I needed and more than that
taught me that wealth and riches
were merely caloric numbers
that burying bad apples or
any failed experiment would grow things
sweeter of superior value and produce
the best nutrients for any shot at happiness
