my dentist retired last year

 

talk about the blind eye

letting things slide

cruising to the end

hitting the low note

 

because my new dentist says

I need a filling

root canal with filling

another filling

tooth extraction with new crown

3rd filling

replacement of a cracked crown

 

he’s cutting edge,

high tech and focused

on nipping issues in the bud

 

my mouth should be happy

but it’s not talking to me

 

I think teeth retire too,

with the same expectations I have

 

don’t bother me

or my fragile happiness
