when they don’t say hi it must be that friendliness offers them nothing for whatever reason it brings no light or anything

through their windows you have to wonder what kind of weather is going on inside them what thunderstorm or thick gray clouds or impenetrable blizzard it doesn’t matter I’ve decided to continue a friendly address to every stranger anyway I remember how a ray of sun felt when it cut through

my darkness
