seems Sundays are the days

nature sends out invitations

for brunch or breakfast

dishes of green leaves and blue sky

the sun’s refillable beverage

birds asking if you want more

the slowly-chewed meal

of morning becomes a

fat-bellied bloat of silence

so hard to get up when

you’re sliding into the

black hole of a nap
