Not Just my Imagination - June 29, 2022

the green mangoes in

my yard are in a hurry

to gestate a promise

these children of a tree

are pushing up delivery

of another birth

their buttery sweetness

into the cribs of mouths

to showers of ooohs and aaahs

and for the world to hear

ecstatic parents

and not see the child

will embolden a few

to dump social caution

and demand to see

what the fuss is all about
