if you’re lonely

don’t wear black or white

people are more likely to approach

if you’ve put on plum pants

or a well-fruited tangerine shirt

carry a green velvet handbag

or a purple baseball hat

sporting a yellow crescent moon

colors are magnets for curiosity

so if you really desire connection

don a pair of electric blue eyeglasses

to draw someone in

perhaps the conversation will turn

to the colors of each other’s eyes

and someone will laughingly add

how the window to the soul

is probably tinted
