two orange dragonflies

who weave their spiraling dance

in loops above the pond

three orange dragonflies

that weave their spiraling dance

in loops above the pond

are a doomed threesome

one lover will be spurned

and spin off

the other two will end their

roller coaster ride on a twig

then with bodies probing, on will

consummate with a final twirl

and deposit, a double helix of DNA

what can you say about those

who never move in a direct line

to get what they want, but dance

and dance and dance around

the object of their affection

I’d say that’s rather romantic
