Pizza at the Pyramids - Jan. 22, 2022

both camel’s buckle

and fold like shopping bags

groan as knees and hooves

kick up dust as we slide off

warm sand sifts through

the sandals our backs

to a redneck sun


we reach a shaded table

order drinks and the special

and wait it comes all at once

a Domino’s large pepperoni

and two sodas


before we leave I frame

a selfie of the two of us

in front of a sunset

flaring behind Giza


that picture still

one of my favorites
