pull and drip

pull and drip

pull and drip

a golden smudge spreads

across an arc of indigo sky

the sun yellows

the church tower

chases candlelight

back through windows

and around the shadows

of ruffled curtains

from the bridge above

a laugh tumbles

slowly it falls

and mixes with misty

swirls of silence

its humorless chill

hits me

I close my eyes

straighten my back

and sigh

pull and drip

pull and drip

pull and drip
