true lovers of God fully prostrate

knees chest arms and face

on grimy tile filthy carpet

leaf litter even rough gravel

to slather their affection onto Him

with such feeling and practiced devotion

that their skin forms a hard layer

at the point of contact

and it's been said

Calluses tell you where your commitments lie

I do have some toughened skin on my thumb

and forefinger where the TV remote rubs
