Sorry - Nov. 1, 2026

behind the scenes

nighttime and a

hooded Fate visits

with clipboard and stamp,

opens a door, checks his list

neither a lover of life nor

saddened by death, he works

a cold emotionless printout

stamps the time,

and goes on to the next

you should feel as sorry

for Fate as you do me,

just as sorry for a life without

a heart as a life with one

sorry for love itself,

its unstable life of shuffling

from home to home

over-fostered then left homeless

I hope my old dog

isn’t on that list tonight
