Take a Shot - Nov. 5, 2025

with a poetry reading coming soon,

and nerves always the obstruction,

I wonder if vocalizing a touch tipsy,

would freshen the experience

take them on a road never taken,

change the usual droll, straight

delivery, to a stagger of words

that trips dramatically throughout

until the theatrical concludes

with the last line delivered,

and I stand high at the podium

and smile with a flair

yeah, I might try a carefully

poured and delicately sipped

shot of something

because I wouldn’t want to

find out who would applaud

a poem, that had to be

picked up off the ground
