notice the sun reaches

for you in the morning

pushes you away

in the afternoon

first a welcome

then a warning

everything has two sides

one promising and the other

leaving all promises behind

which is impossible

for children to understand

to matter what we say

only experience will

make them bleed

and us as well

with love the treatment

for those wounds

to heal together
