the physics of possible routes

those bouncing chances to a final rest

that unplanned and unpredictable fall

of something you can’t lose

all I know is, whenever I apply logic

to the path this tiny white spaceship

will take after it freefalls to ground

and takes off in one direction,

it’s rarely where I expect it

as I hunt in frantic circles

around the drop zone,

searching and feeling

on my knees, with fingers

traveling to places they shouldn’t,

sticky, unclean and never seen,

searching for that tiny little pill

which crouches deathly quiet,

desperate not to be found

in its quest for freedom
