Unexpected Kiss - June 5, 2024

my tiger koi-fish plucked a worm

from my fingers  today

his mouth puckered my thumb

a gill brushed my forefinger

then he waivered close

hoping for another before

swimming away

made me start to wonder if I held a

wiggler out of the water  could I

get him to snatch it out of the air

or teach it to swim in circles

by following a treat around

as I moved my hand

maybe train it other tricks

put on shows for friends

charge money for performances?

or  I could stay amazed

that it happened once

on this quiet morning

a kiss

from something wild and free
