Waiting for a Foot - Oct. 7, 2024

watch a kicked pebble

leap off the street

tumble in the air

bounce low

fork left

skip back to the right

the physics of a booted rock

is like the trajectory of a life

highflying kickstart

to an acrobatic arc

tumbling over and over

free in movement till it

slows to a roll

crosses the sidewalk

disappears into grass

a resting stone once again

a stone like all the others

a stone living as expected

quiet  patient  agreeably

dull  ignored

wouldn’t it be nice

to be in the right place

and the right time

when a shoe starts to take

a big swing?
