during tragedies

and acts of courage

we are the same

with stupid mistakes

and gestures of compassion

we are the same

despite the color of skin

job   intelligence or beliefs

we are the same

that everyone’s hope and desire

for themselves and family

are the same

for the billions you’ll never meet

living your life in different clothes

houses    laws   religions and countries

we are the same

travel this country

then the world

tell me what you see . . .
