you know the game

where a story is whispered

around a circle of people

and the final version is way off?

I hope that’s not the Bible with

words forgotten or imagined

exiting and entering the truth

a final cobble of skewed reality

of the New Testament

with endless dialogues of Jesus

are his disciples’ accounting

all the rest are what they said

he said

they being the eating, drinking

group around the table, writing

down things passed by groups

from many years of drinking tables

from my experience, if that game

goes on too long, facts can become

hilarious fiction

though I suppose if people stop

laughing, it could turn serious

and into a non-fable

yeah, I don’t know, just tell me

when it’s time for an Amen
