Yes, I Need Crickets - March 4, 2025

as the orchestra for my sleepless

     thoughts rehearsing at 3 am

then to play a lullaby to

     put me back to sleep

and in the morning

     a peppier tune that says

                  Get Up!

 

and I definitely need them

     to just watch as I perform

my daytime roles and characters

 

though with crickets in shadows

     who can distinguish an audience

that’s utterly captivated and quiet

    

from one full of sound sleepers

    and a few loud snorers
