Chores, Chores, Chores - Jan. 3, 2024

an entire morning of them

the half-arc of sun to trim a tree

rake the leaves    clean the fishpond

run errands    head to the gym

pick up groceries    medications  

get money from the bank   pay bills

 

my God

how much easier it would be

without a body

 

how we cater to it

when it’s our spirit that

floats free in our dreams

and would in our lives

if released from the concrete

of fleshy needy bones

 

then again

I think of all I’d miss

in a touchless freedom
