I Don't Like Sad Poems - July 6, 2023

I don’t mind

the broken-winged bird

bloodied and splinted

till the day it flies away


but the one

that’s uncatchable

that flaps in circles

till it’s crushed by a car


no in that poem

hope does not take flight

loop in and out of clouds

and boomerang back


never to be caught

put it in the reader’s pocket


who struts away

air under each step
