on a rack in an oven

pollution and other delinquents

before it burns to a crisp

the logic of I’ll be dead

by then is the greed of consuming

the last course left of earth

while the line stretches

into the future

the unborn will be starving

before they arrive

and never know the world

was once every kind of

vegetable

and salad green

blueberry pie

soft vanilla ice cream
