here a gorgeous summer day

is dark clouds spitting rain

a splash of sun painting mountain rainbows

and a breeze damp with exotic smells

you might be familiar with

the final two-minute broil

a lasagna dish needs

to crisp and brown the top


on a normal July day

in the desert

we’re a dish in an oven

someone forgot to turn off
