More Crush than Love - Sept. 24, 2023

outside on my back

I stretch under

the morning sky

and look up

I appear to hang with palm trees

like head lettuce on sticks

far above a cobalt lake

not a breath of wind

nor cloud in this liquid heaven

a fading moon floats

then slowly drowns into

that sky lagoon

like a sneaky love

she’ll surface again

when this lake turns black

and the stars shine

like silver sand

and her light

drips with longing
