each student sits silent
but only on the outside
around the table critiques
word tips shape shift
a stanza reshuffled
and then the hush
when our poetry teacher
with gentleness and a
finger pointed at a heart
says
continue your journey use
words true for your vision
forget the melodies of others
learn harmony with your self
pay attention to poets
that sing like that
