I used to value

silence above speech

meditation to the burp

of unnecessary words

so when I read poems

I still lean towards

that single cut to the heart

or small squeeze of a feeling

one drop of blood

or the lone tear over

a big messy cleanup

and the pooling of stillness

after the words disappear
