into the fireplace I lay some crumpled newspaper

many words worth and light it the flames lick high

war crime     whole sectionsabout injustice    holidayrecipes    

crossword puzzles global economics    heroic stories

and of coursethe daily weather report

so I wax poetic...       

anything written can start a fire       

and a fire can also burn in words

feelings are flammable

fear and anger ignitable

love can speak in flames

no sign of smoke or trace of ash

but now     please excuse me

I need to get warm

and feed a dying fire
