we are a beautiful blue planet

with scratches of green and beige

shades of gray   whisps of white

and what would alien surveillance

report on Christmas  Thanksgiving

or the Fourth of July?

a migration that’s strange if they’re ignorant

of “holidays” and the distances traveled

and back in a few short days

I really hope that love

has been discovered

on other planets

otherwise     we’re

in bigger trouble

than we are now
