why pick just one flower
to watch slowly drop
its petals into smelly water
before it all gets tossed?
the world
is a most unusual
everblooming landscape
no reason you can’t
maintain a freshly picked bouget
on the counter
even when you can
no longer draw water
or snip a stem
I bet you’ll smell them coming
before they even knock
on the door
